BEER BIKING amsterdam cityguide? |
It was only a matter of time before someone combined two legendary Amsterdam pastimes: cycling and beer. Imagine a pedal-powered party vehicle, shaped like an open-sided trolley car with a bar down the middle – except the barstools sit atop pedals, which you and 17 to 22 of your mates can use to go anywhere cars can (except highways). It was all just one happy party until a spate of incidents (a collision with a tunnel roof, the loss of part of a finger) made the city ponder whether the beer bike should be banned. The local transport authority ruled to allow them to keep pedalling, but you must have a designated sober driver (in some cases the company will provide a driver). Beerbike 06 5185 0805; www.beerbike.co.uk; 2hr around €35 per person) Cost depends on the number of beerbikers on board. |
